LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Team Kaos/Alegent Health riders Marco Vasquez and Rich Pearson won third place on Wednesday at USA Cycling's masters national time trial championships. The pair teamed up for the 25.8-kilometer tandem time trial, which puts both riders on the same bike. They finished third in the 90-plus (combined age of the riders) division with a time of 31:17.15. Earlier in the week, Pearson lined up for the 55-59 road race, a 40-mile contest on a rolling, semi-technical course. A group of four riders got away about halfway through, leaving a splintered peloton in their wake. Pearson joined the 20-man chase group and attempted to reel in the break, but it wasn't to be. On the uphill finish, the group splintered again and Pearson finished 14th overall. |
